AFH launched the Mukuru (pronounced muh-KOO-roo) "Arts for AIDS" Series in the fall of 2005. Named after the African deity of compassion, the goal of Mukuru is to raise Houstonians' awareness of the escalating numbers of youth infected with HIV and the subsequent need for prevention education. By showcasing dance, drama, music, and visual arts presentations within the framework of special architectural spaces and alternative performance locations, audiences experience world-class performances and exhibitions while supporting the fight against AIDS.

AFH's annual World AIDS Day Luncheon encourages public awareness and support for programs that assist those living with HIV/AIDS and benefits AIDS Foundation Houston.
The International World AIDS Day was started by UNAIDS on December 1st, 1988 and has continued on the first day of December as important day of reflection. The 2009 World AIDS Day Luncheon
will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Four Seasons Houston. We're proud to announce that this year's luncheon will be chaired by
Lara Bell and Roseann Rogers!

AIDS Walk Houston is an exciting, non-competitive walk event that helps increase community awareness and educate Houstonians about HIV/AIDS. A portion of proceeds from AIDS Walk Houston will be distributed to local HIV/AIDS service organizations that are dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by the disease.
